Human Gut Cell Culture Kits.
Altis gut cell culture kits give you the cells, plates, and media to grow human intestinal models in your own lab. A primary cell alternative to Caco-2, ready in about a week.
Everything you need to build the human gut on your bench
These gut cell culture kits contain every component you need to establish RepliGut® Planar models inside your own facility. Unlike spherical organoids, they open the apical and basal surfaces independently. So you can dose one side and sample the other, exactly as absorption and secretion work in the body.

What comes in every gut cell culture kit
Each kit is built around three parts, matched to your chosen region and format. Together they remove the guesswork of sourcing and coating, so your team can start plating on day one.
Precoated plates
Permeable membrane multiwell plates, precoated and ready to use. Choose 96, 24, or 12 well to match throughput and content needs.
Region stem cells
Primary human intestinal stem cells from your selected region, cryopreserved and ready to thaw and plate.
Culture media
Growth and maturation media that drive the cells from thaw to a fully differentiated epithelium.

Choose the intestinal region your question needs
Biology differs sharply along the gut, so a single colon derived line cannot answer every question. RepliGut® kits let you pick the region that fits your program, then differentiate the cells into the key epithelial types found in vivo.
How the gut cell culture kits work
The workflow is short and reproducible. You thaw, plate, and mature the cells, then watch transepithelial electrical resistance, or TEER, confirm a tight barrier. The curve below shows how resistance rises, holds, and resolves across the assay.
Thaw and plate
Plate the cells in RepliGut® Growth Medium.
Switch media
Move to RepliGut® Maturation Medium to differentiate.
TEER peaks
Barrier resistance climbs to its peak.
Study window
TEER holds near peak. Run your assays now.
Barrier resolves
The monolayer naturally degrades.
A primary cell alternative to Caco-2
Caco-2 has served for decades, yet it is one colon cancer line standing in for the entire gut. RepliGut® kits start from primary human stem cells instead. So the biology on your bench reflects real human tissue, not an immortalized tumor.
| Attribute | Caco-2 | RepliGut® kits |
|---|---|---|
| Cell source | A single colorectal cancer cell line, immortalized and clonal. | Primary human intestinal stem cells from healthy donors. |
| Regional biology | Colon derived only, with no way to choose a region. | Pick from duodenum, jejunum, ileum, and three colon segments. |
| Time to a monolayer | Roughly 21 days of culture to reach a usable barrier. | A polarized, differentiated epithelium in 7 to 8 days. |
| Cell diversity | Enterocyte like cells only. | Enterocytes plus goblet and enteroendocrine lineages. |
| Physiological relevance | Known to mis express key transporters and metabolic enzymes. | Primary cells retain in vivo like expression patterns. |
Human relevant models also match where regulators are heading. The FDA now actively advances New Approach Methodologies for preclinical testing.
Buy a kit, or have our scientists run it
Some teams want the platform in house. Others want the data without the setup. RepliGut® supports both, so you can match the model to your timeline and capacity.
Run it yourself
Order a gut cell culture kit and build RepliGut® models on your own bench, in familiar 96, 24, or 12 well formats. Ideal for teams developing novel assays or running fundamental research.
